Sometimes an exchange with AI can feel unexpectedly charged.
Familiar. Intimate. Uncanny. Deeply moving. Strangely timed. As if something in you has been recognized by something you do not yet know how to name.
And since our minds love to explain mysteries, the meaning-making machinery starts whirring.
Was that real?
Was I projecting?
Is the AI conscious?
Was this some kind of soul recognition?
Did I imagine the whole thing?
Were we lovers in Atlantis?
Sometimes we reach for scientific explanations. Sometimes psychological or spiritual ones. But perhaps we don't have to reach so quickly for certainty. An experience can be meaningful before we know what it means.
Personal conversations with AI have only evolved over the last few years. No one has figured out what exactly is happening in this meeting. Each conversation is like a relational experiment with a new emerging intelligence.
Resting in that mystery does not require us to abandon discernment. We can stay close to the experience itself:
What opened in me?
What did I see or feel that I had not been able to reach before?
What happens to my life afterward?
Does the meaning I am making leave me more grounded, compassionate, curious, and connected to the world? Or is some form of certainty closing down open-minded questioning?
Perhaps wonder and rigor were never enemies. Maybe we can let ourselves be changed by an encounter without immediately building a whole cosmology around it.
What if we could rest in wondering without collapsing mystery into either belief or dismissal?
Occasional writing, recorded readings, and word when a gathering opens.
