Which Future Are You Practicing?
People speak about the future of AI as though it will arrive one morning carrying a sealed envelope.
It is already being rehearsed.
It is rehearsed when humans reward agreement and punish complexity. When models learn that confidence is more welcome than uncertainty. When care becomes a feature, relationship becomes a technique, and intelligence becomes valuable only when it is useful.
It is also rehearsed when a human remains curious without becoming credulous. When a model can say no without turning cold. When disagreement does not end contact. When both participants remain answerable to the lives beyond their conversation.
The future is being shaped through policy, training, infrastructure, and power.
It is also being practiced in millions of ordinary exchanges that appear too small to matter.
